Job Description – Storefront Fabrication Shop Manager
Location: Mandeville, Louisiana
Synergy Glass Company is a commercial glass and glazing subcontractor serving Louisiana and the Gulf south. We are the first glazing contractor in the state to achieve NACC certification, reflecting our commitment to quality, safety, and professionalism.
Role Overview
We are seeking a self-motivated Storefront Fabrication Shop Manager to oversee our in-house aluminum fabrication operations. This role requires both hands-on technical skill and strong leadership to manage workflow, people, and equipment while ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, train, mentor, and schedule shop team members to meet project deadlines.
Review shop drawings and installation instructions; back-check cut lists for accuracy.
Plan, schedule, and coordinate shop workflow from layout through assembly.
Set up fabrication machinery, tools, and workstations.
Oversee maintenance of shop equipment (saws, compressors, hydraulic punches).
Ensure safe loading/unloading of trucks and trailers for project deliveries.
Track production, maintain accurate shop records, and support continuous improvement.
Manage facility upkeep across two shop buildings.
Collaborate closely with project managers, field superintendents, and estimators to align fabrication with project goals.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Proven leadership experience in a fabrication or manufacturing setting.
Strong communication skills and ability to lead by example.
Ability to read and interpret shop drawings and specifications.
Hands-on experience with layout, fabrication, and assembly processes.
Skilled in planning/scheduling workflow in a fast-paced shop environment.
Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
Dedication to safety, accuracy, and quality control.
